OUR PASTOR

Reverend John Patterson was newly elected as our pastor in March of 2022.  He and his wife Sherri, celebrate 33 years of marriage. Prior to moving to Rapid City, they pastored 13 years in North Platte, Nebraska, planted a new church in Springfield, Missouri, as well as several ministerial roles including executive pastor, assistant pastor, and youth pastor in South Dakota, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Nebraska.  Both he and his wife's vision is to establish and grow ministries through New Life, by reaching the communities of western South Dakota and the Black Hills with the love of God.

OUR HISTORY

New Life Tabernacle began in April 1998 with a small group of people who met in the 4-H building in Rapid City. After a few months we met in various rented locations until property was purchased in the community of Black Hawk, where our current facility was erected in July of 2007 in just two days. The new church was made possible by the Church-in-a-Day program of the United Pentecostal Church, about 80 people from across the nation came to give their support of time and labor. Eventual plans are for a three-phase facility, which includes a family center. We have witnessed God's hand on us since the beginning, and the church continues to thrive, as we endeavor to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and connect with our community.

OUR BELIEFS

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible to be the infallible and inspired word of God, and the source for salvation and Godly living.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe in One Eternal God, the creator of all things, manifested as Jesus Christ for the redemption of mankind, and as the Holy Spirit that indwells all believers.  (Malachi 2:10; 2 Corinthians 5:19; Ephesians 4:5-6; 1 Corinthians 3:16).

HUMANITY

We believe that everyone has sinned, and as God's unique creation, has a right to hear the good news of salvation, and has an opportunity to thrive in a caring and spiritual environment.
